Mexico Establishes Itself as a Major Investor in Spain, Led by Mexican Billionaires

Mexican entrepreneurs have strengthened Mexico’s position as a major investor in Spain, with significant acquisitions in key sectors such as real estate, construction, and food.

Mexican entrepreneurs like Carlos Slim, Germán Larrea Mota Velasco, and María Asunción Aramburuzabala have strengthened Mexico’s position as a major investor in Spain, with significant acquisitions in key sectors such as real estate, construction, and food. According to the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Mexico, the country has invested over 27 billion euros, and this figure is expected to keep growing.

The real estate sector has been one of the most prominent, with recent acquisitions like those of Metrovacesa, Baldocer, and Grupo Roca by Mexican investors. Spain’s limited property supply, combined with rising demand, continues to make the real estate market attractive to Mexican capital.

Additionally, Mexican companies have strengthened their presence in other sectors like energy, telecommunications, and transportation, with investments in Spanish infrastructure and landmark companies.

This scenario highlights Mexico’s interest in diversifying its investments in Europe, with Spain being one of the primary destinations.
